Beaches, Beauties and Booze

Goa is to India what Hawaii is to the world. It is one of the biggest holiday destinations in India and has many attractions for people of all ages. It is also the only place in India where gambling is legalized. Beautiful beaches, filled with a variety of people from all over the world. Booze flows here more than water. Roads are jam packed with people and energy even at 3 in the morning. Think "Spring Break", but throughout the year!!

Having gone to Goa, we of course had to visit the beaches. Since the Rider Mania event was at Vagator Hill Top, the first beach we went to was the Vagator beach. Beautiful scenic beach, with not too many people, but not too little either.

The beach sits below the hill top. Parking is at the top, and a small descent down to the beach.

The time we went was around pre-evening, where the sun was just right. Shining on the many waves of the vast ocean.
It was a beautiful scene, and I was able to capture a picture perfect beauty shot.

Vagator, is a lesser known and less populated beach of Goa. Especially due to Goa's confusing roads.

We then went to a beautiful restaurant at Baaga Beach, called Shangri-laa, which is next to Brittos. Good Karaoke, Good Food, and great location. A must visit if you plan to go to Goa.

Baaga Beach is well known for Tito's. Tito's is a night club frequented by beautiful people who love to paaaaarrrrttttyyy... If your a party lover and love the club scene, this is a must go place.

I, on the other hand prefer a quiet serine place to enjoy my drinks, and hence will be unable to share any experiences of this place.

Following this, we landed back at Calangute Beach. Now Calangute Beach is the most famous destination for anyone going to Goa. It has all the attractions, jet skis, banana boats, paragliding, etc.. Calangute is also the most crowded beach.
We landed there post midnight, through a side entrance closer to our hotel. This meant that we were away from the main entrance and also away from the crowd. The next 4 hours was absolutely amazing. Spiritual, Peaceful and Dreamy. 5 of us were resting on beach chairs, with a few drinks. Looking at us was an almost fantasy like scene. A beautiful beach under a starry sky, lit only by the moonlight. The only sound in the air was that of the waves crashing on to the beach. Its an indescribable memory which one has to experience to understand the feel.

Mesmerized by the previous night's magic, we woke up early the next day and headed back to the same beach. This time around, the scene was different, but still as amazing and beautiful.
I felt like I had been transported to the shores of a different country. The beach was scarcely populated and filled with only foreigners. We relaxed in hammocks, and enjoyed a couple more rounds of drinks.

After all this, who would feel like leaving this place. But we had to, we had to get back to our lives, our friends and our families. So we left on Sunday morning, riding back to Bangalore. The bike count was slightly reduced as a couple of guys decided to extend their fun by heading off to Gokarna.

The ride back was mostly smooth. We got to experience the ghats again. Everything was smooth, and we managed to reach Hubli, without a hitch for lunch. Ajit's family had invited all of us for lunch at their farm house. Its not a small task serving 40+ hungry people. But they did it with such grace, that even the world's best caterers will be put to shame in comparison to the hospitality displayed by Ajit's folks.

After lunch, with drowsy eyes, we head off again. But no, wait.. There was yet another puncture and a cut clutch cable. We got it fixed and were on the road again. A few 100 kms further, my speedometer cable got cut, and I was left clueless as to what speed I was at, how many kms I had done, and how many more kms I could do with the fuel in the tank. It was a weird experience, being so clueless.

Finally, we reached Bangalore back at 1 am. Had a quick huddle, and dispersed.

One hell of a trip, one we all are sure to repeat again, this year.

  1. For those who had been Goa already this blog will be only a memory recalling. For those who have not been to Goa yet, it is a free trip to Goa and a guide for a future trip. Very good write up.
